What is kava?

Kava (Piper Methysticum) is a plant growing in South Pacific Islands.

It has been used by Polynesian natives for more than 3000 years as a social and ceremonial drink. Kava is valued for its pronounced ability to relax body-mind. Certain sorts of kava have mild psychoactive effects, too.
